Robin Berlyn & Yvonne Lewis
Thank you "Detained in Dubai" for your consistent nonjudgmental strength and support
If it wasn't for Radha "Detained in Dubai" to pick up my fiance's story being detained in Dubai and write about it - I wouldn't have had the hope and courage today to keep continually fighting for his safe return home to England from the UAE".
"Thank you "Detained in Dubai" for your consistent nonjudgmental strength and support, in seeing things through until freedom for the vulnerable and mistreated is accomplished - with you Radha being a great role model for inspiration to others "in never giving up until justice is done. Thank you and forever grateful".
Robin Berlyn, a former Grenadier Guardsman and bodyguard to the British royal family, faced significant legal challenges in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) after being wrongfully implicated in fraudulent activities. In 2013, he was appointed CEO of Platinium Commodities, a company that later turned out to be involved in fraudulent operations orchestrated by individuals such as Renwick Haddow and Kristian Gander. Unaware of the illicit activities, Berlyn became the scapegoat, leading to his arrest and a 16-month imprisonment. Following his release, he remained trapped in the UAE due to legal and financial constraints, unable to return home.
In a desperate attempt to escape his predicament, Berlyn tried to flee by swimming two miles to Oman. Unfortunately, upon reaching Oman, he was deported back to Dubai instead of being allowed to return to the UK. This incident underscores the severe challenges faced by expatriates entangled in legal issues within the UAE.
Advocacy groups, such as Detained in Dubai, have highlighted Berlyn's case to shed light on the broader issues of legal abuses and human rights concerns in the UAE. They emphasize the need for systemic reforms to prevent similar injustices in the future.
