The GCC countries have joined forces to establish an Interpol style agency for the enforcement of policing and information sharing within the GCC region. The main stated aim of the organisation which will be based in Abu Dhabi is to tackle terrorism. Like Interpol however, it will also include other "criminal" activities.
Many legal issues that people encounter in the UAE are considered criminal where in other countries, they may be considered civil matters.
We advise that anyone who has outstanding legal issues in any gulf state, avoid travel to the GCC region until the matters are resolved.
If you are unsure of your status and suspect that you may have a pending legal matter, we advise contacting us to conduct a status investigation and police check before travel.
